Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are one of our core competencies and an area of specialization that sets us apart.  Our GIS team has significant experience mapping large dataset overlays and extensive training in the use of ESRI ArcGIS tools for geospatial analysis and cartographic design. We specialize in web-based GIS, spatial databases, and creating, modifying and converting spatial data. Our GIS solutions enhance our clients’ analytical capabilities by adding a new dimension to their knowledge capture, allowing users to incorporate geographic elements in their pattern evaluations. Geo-tagging observations enables users to easily visualize the location pertinent to the observation and enhances knowledge sharing through location-based search functionality.

Nsite staff also have substantial experience in GIS data gathering and parsing.  In our ongoing work, we have experience with analyzing GIS datasets ranging from Google to the National Geospatial Agency, and have integrated them successfully into a variety of applications.  We are experts in the current state of GIS technology and, based on our ongoing geospatial programs in support of the Federal Government, we are able rapidly and effectively apply this expertise to the development of new geospatial solutions for our clients.

We have developed a number of innovative web-based geospatial capabilities for the Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS), the Program of Record for Knowledge Management/Lessons Learned utilized across the entire Department of Defense.  We are also currently on contract to enhance and host the U.S. Forest Service’s Recreation Information Database. This effort includes a considerable level of new feature development, including the introduction of geospatial functionality.
